I envision something more like this: in future elections, people will just be saturated by campaign ads, even more than now, to the point where everyone will become cynical about everything. It will be like the Soviet Union, with propaganda everywhere, but most people don't believe any of it. Except we will have both government propaganda and corporate propaganda. Even more corporate than government. So by allowing almost unlimited spending for campaign commercials, the effectiveness of those ads will be diminished, though they will still make us dull and dispirited. And luckily, as I mentioned in my post, we have the rise of free media to counter the profusion of corporate advertising.

I've posted this elsewhere, but here's some food for thought :)

Frankly, I'm waiting to see how the repubicans squawk when CITGO (it may be owned by Venezuela, but is a US Corporation) drops a few BILLION dollars on media for a slate of candidates in congressional primaries. Maybe they can get their candidates to run as Republicans, just to screw around that party. :)

Or maybe the nice folks at ARAMCO (Exxon-Mobil-& The House of Saud) can put up some candidates and toss some more BILLIONS in media buys. They can get their guys in and vote for US partnership with some of the more nasty radical jihadists...

The gloves are off, the tyrannosauruses are going to get into battle with each other.
