Below is a nice compilation of clips of candidate Mitt Romney taking President Obama to task for failing to get unemployment below 8%. I think it is important to note here that Romney's claim that President Obama promised that the stimulus bill would cause unemployment to fall below that threshold is false. That was merely a forecast made by one of his economic advisers before the president took office, based on data that did not take into account how severe the recession had become. But Romney has been repeating this falsehood over and over again for many months.

So it's important to remember that it was really Mitt Romney who set the bar at 8%, and who has been hammering away at that theme for months. Now that unemployment has fallen below Romney's threshold, by Romney's own logic, and according to Romney's own criteria, we should re-elect the president.
