There's an important election tomorrow in Wisconsin, but here in California we are also holding a primary, in which there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest because the outcome is a foregone conclusion. This is a reminder that we do not vote to determine the outcome. (That would be presumptuous of any of us!) We vote to express solidarity with the cause. We vote to participate. We vote to show that we honor our rights as citizens in a democracy.
And if those aren't reasons enough, fellow Californians, let's remember that for the rest of our lives, we only get two more chances to vote for Barack Obama for President of the United States: tomorrow and on November 6. I would not pass up either opportunity.
