Message to Senate Republicans: You want to complain about recess appointments? Then explain where you get off refusing to allow an up or down vote on the appointment of Richard Cordray, just because you don't like the agency that Congress created by statute. If you don't like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, what you need to do is gather the votes to abolish it. But until you can do that, we need a qualified person to run it.

Strong counsel. I think Americans will take it.

  2. I'm surprised to hear you say that. I prefer to think that most Americans are against fraud, and favor doing more to stop that kind of thing.

  3. We agree. That means we agree on the value of the CFPB. But, as you well know, politics is more than wanting the right thing. Witness Obamacare; a well- intentioned disaster. Dems paid (and are still paying) a price for the Pelosi-Reid antics surrounding the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act. On a lesser scale this will have a cost. Obama is either quite naive or a great poker player. I think he is a poker player. Expect a big pot!
